Pizza after a long trip
“I like it that you eat what’s available, sleep, where we find a place, and take whatever transportation we find.”
I appreciated this compliment—we were on one of many trips through places where transportation was a bit hard to find and whatever food could be found was what we better eat or there wasn't anything else.
I loved those trips.
On one of those trips Kumar and I started getting hungry for pizza. We decided we would get some pizza when we got back down to the city in the South. We got to the city about 2 weeks later and found a bicycle rickshaw that could take us to the hotel where, amazingly, pizza was available. When we arrived at the hotel we were seated at a table and each given a menu.
The menu was full of appetizing options of wonderful variety. Of course we already knew we wanted pizza so we made our selection and placed our order. About 10 minutes later the waiter told us that it was not possible to make pizza. We were sad but we tried another place.
The same thing—Menu, order, 10 minute wait—“It is not possible to make pizza”.
So we went to the third place.
“Oh, Pizza?” “We make very good pizza”
Ordered the pizza……
10 minute wait……
“It is not possible to make pizza.”
“Why not?”, we asked.
“Because there is a cheese shortage”.
So we ordered something else off of the long menu.
10 minutes later….. “It is not possible”
We tried this several times.
Finally we said, “What is available?”
They told us the 1 thing available.
We left and went to a different restaurant where they did not have pizza on the menu but everything they had on the menu was available. The food was delicious.
